Safety is Everyone’s Responsibility

Prior to Thanksgiving our industry lost two Construction Angels due to job site fatalities caused by dump truck discrepancies and negligence. Our hearts go out to those who are now missing part of their family!

For more information on this topic, or to see in which ways you can help, see our video by Kristi Ronyak, President and Founder of Construction Angels, and SAFE= Safety Alliance For Excellence.

Construction Angels encourages employers to contact their local safety representatives to get workers OSHA certified to prevent this from happening in the future, therefore, expanding safety awareness in the construction trades. To ensure the safety of your workers, enforce the daily “Toolbox Talks” and monthly safety meetings to prevent future accidents from occurring on the jobsite. The following article will provide an example: Avoiding a Backing Accident. With more workers being OSHA certified, attending safety training and continuing education, eradication of jobsite fatalities will subsequently follow. Contact or visit your state statistics (U.S. Department of labor statistics: to find out the number of construction related fatalities which occur in your state. Can these fatalities be prevented? Absolutely. Have your company get involved in learning about safety classes and training provided in your area!! Make 2014 the year we SAVE LIVES!!!

Coming in February 2014, FTBA and ARTBA are coming to Orlando to speak about safety and roadside projects, as well as other topics. Attend the 2014 Construction Conference for Florida Transportation Builders Association (FTBA) at the Doubletree in Orlando, where safety classes and other topics will be discussed in depth.
