The Construction Angels Genesis

Construction Angels, Inc. is a Non-Profit Corporation that will aid families that are in need of financial assistance when a construction employee has lost his/her life in an on-the-job accident.  Many times when a household suffers a loss of life while working on a construction jobsite, there are little or no funds available to the family to accommodate the children left behind.  Construction Angels’ main objective is to help families pick up the pieces.

We want the Industry to be well aware that Construction Angels are the First Responders to the  Construction families in need of assistance when a disaster happens.  We believe in family values and the constant support of our own niche industry.

Construction Angels is an Organization focusing on the construction workers and their families.  Its services are designed to provide an integrated approach to create quality of life for family members whose household has had the misfortune to be involved in a tragic and fatal accident. We hope to facilitate the avoidance of unexpected paths for workers and their families via facilitating access to safety information and providing a smooth transition if an unexpected path does occur.

The genesis for the Construction Angels was at the World of Asphalt tradeshow where a woman was walking around the floor collecting donations for “one of our own”, a construction worker who had lost his life on the job.  Ms. Ronyak wanted to host a black tie gala event to raise money for a charity to provide funds for the woman.  When several board members got together and started looking for such a charity, they discovered that one did not exist.  Eventually, the meaning behind “ONE OF OUR OWN” was discovered.

“One of our own”, a  worker, was killed while working on a job before Christmas of 2009.  The worker’s employer cancelled its own Christmas party and donated the money earmarked for that party to the worker’s family.  One of the construction associations, ECA, then conducted a 50/50 raffle for the worker’s family.  When the owner of the construction company that employed the man discovered, management offered to match the amount raised.  That act was the birth of Construction Angels.  We will all remember how this Organization was born and how passionate we are to maintain it for the industry.
